Het Karlovy Vary International Film Festival heeft de officiële selectie voor de 58ste editie onthuld. Het festival vindt plaats van 28 juni tot 6 juli en omvat 34 films in de officiële selectie, verdeeld over de hoofdcompetitie Crystal Globe, de Proxima Competitie en Speciale Voorstellingen. Artistiek directeur Karel Och benadrukt dat de thema’s van de officiële selectie een unieke kijk bieden op genres en thema’s in de hedendaagse cinema.
Crystal Globe Competitie
In de Crystal Globe Competitie gaan 11 films in wereldpremière en één film in internationale première. De jury van de Crystal Globe Competitie bestaat uit producent Christine Vachon, acteur Geoffrey Rush, regisseur Gábor Reisz, dichter en romanschrijver Sjón en actrice Eliška Křenková.

Proxima Competitie
De Proxima Competitie keert terug voor het derde jaar en richt zich op gedurfde werken van jonge filmmakers en ervaren auteurs. De films in deze competitie worden beoordeeld door een jury bestaande uit de Soedanese filmmaker Mohamed Kordofani, producent Bianca Balbuena, Daniela Michel, oprichter van het Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico, Wouter Jansen van salesbedrijf Square Eyes en de Tsjechische filmmaker Adéla Komrzý.
