Het 81ste Venice Film Festival is ten einde gekomen en de winnaars zijn bekendgemaakt. Dit jaar ging de Gouden Leeuw naar de Spaanse filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar voor zijn film The Room Next Door. Opmerkelijk is dat dit Almodóvars eerste Engelstalige langspeelfilm is en ondanks dat het zijn 23ste film is, is dit zijn allereerste Gouden Leeuw.
